I definitely podiumed for my answer in French class today. What did YOU do at the weekend?

No I didn't fais le menage or reste a la maison. I survived an earthquake, man. I always have a horrible feeling that I am perceived as a show-off in French class. Last week I blathered on about spending the night in the Ice Hotel, this week earthquake survival. I don't have the skill in French to sound modest. Not sure I have that in English either.
